H.E Visal Suon

His Excellency Visal Suon is currently serving Cambodia’s legal system as an Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Justice and a member of the Legal Advisory Council to the Council of Ministers of the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Before becoming a powerful government official, H.E Visal Suon has exposed himself to various legal practicing sectors including the local and international non-governmental organizations, education, court and professional firm and association for the last 40 years. Over 20 years, he had been practicing as a trial attorney specializing in laws related to human rights, criminal, family, anti-human and drug trafficking and land dispute. On his journey fighting for a better and fairer legal system in Cambodia, he has been provided vital roles as a legal advisory to the significant international non-governmental organizations such as the Asia Foundation, Asia Development Bank, the World Bank and the United Nation on various aspects including human rights law, land disputes, commercial law and financial policies. He was also honored to teach law and advocacy skills to the younger generation at the university level in Cambodia for several years. H.E Visal Suon studied at the University of San Francisco, School of Law in the USA to qualify as a legal instructor in 1995 and he holds a Master of Laws in International Human Rights from the University of Hong Kong in 2002. He is currently a candidate for a Doctorate Degree in law at the Cambodian University of Specialties.
